MATTES saddle pads combine premium materials, functional fit and extensive customization options. Whether for dressage, jumping or eventing, MATTES offers suitable saddle pads for different saddles, horses and riding disciplines.
Many models are available with genuine MATTES lambskin and support comfort, pressure distribution and a pleasant climate beneath the saddle. Alternatively, numerous saddle pads are also available without lambskin. This version offers a lighter and slimmer alternative but does not provide the additional comfort and pressure-distribution properties of a lambskin underside.
In addition to stocked saddle pads, selected models can be individually configured with the desired shape, quilted fabric colour, lambskin colour, binding, cords, embroidery and functional options such as CORRECTION®, SPINEFREE® or EWWA SPINEFREE®.

What are the benefits of a saddle pad with lambskin?
MATTES lambskin offers comfort, climate-regulating and pressure-distribution properties and can help reduce friction. At the same time, it can absorb moisture and wick it away from the horse’s body. This helps keep the area beneath the saddle dry and comfortable for longer.
Which saddle pad shape fits my saddle?
MATTES offers special shapes for dressage, jumping and eventing saddles. The cuts are designed to match the respective saddle types and ensure an optimal fit.
What is the CORRECTION® System?
The CORRECTION® System allows the saddle position to be adjusted individually using inserts. This helps compensate for changes in the horse or asymmetrical pressure.
The system is used, among other things, for:
- young horses developing muscle
- changes caused by training
- different shoulder or hip positions
- the horse’s natural asymmetry
- older horses with a changing back profile
- changes after illness or training breaks
What does SPINEFREE® mean?
SPINEFREE® provides additional wither clearance and creates more space along the spine. This makes it easier to lift the pad into the saddle channel and helps reduce pressure in the area of the spinous processes.
What does EWWA SPINEFREE® mean?
EWWA stands for “Extra Wide Wither Area” and refers to a special version of selected MATTES saddle pads. Compared to the regular SPINEFREE® version, the front wither area has an additional cut-out.
This creates extra space for horses with high or pronounced withers.
Can I design my saddle pad individually?
Yes. Many MATTES saddle pads can be individually configured. Depending on the model, numerous quilted fabric colours, lambskin colours, bindings, cords, velvet options and further features are available.
Is individual embroidery possible?
Many saddle pads can be embroidered with names, lettering or logos. The available options are shown directly on the respective product page.
